We want to simplify and demystify the world of modern cloth nappies. Our nappy index compares different brands with a total of 24 different products.
We do not receive payment to include products. To be on the index, a brand must have been in operation for at least two years and have a website or Facebook shop with stock available for immediate purchase. Experienced members of the Clean Cloth Nappies community test all items prior to inclusion.

Many products are listed as OSFM, meaning ‘one size fits most’. This is not a uniform standard and size varies considerably between brands. Another size descriptor is BTP, for ‘birth to potty’, which is more commonly used in the UK.
Our index uses each product’s default insert to calculate its absorbency. All nappies can be made more absorbent by adding extra material (for example, adding a folded washcloth or doubling up on inserts).
