Cloth advocacy project

We have created two A4-sized cloth nappy fit guides to explain how to fit a cloth nappy and how one-size-fits-most (OSFM) sizing works

Many of you want to promote the use of cloth nappies at your childcare or early learning centre, but don’t know how or where to begin. We have developed a set of resources, an advocacy packet, for you to share with your childcare providers to remove some of those barriers and make it feel easier.

This free advocacy packet includes two A4 posters that give information on:

  • An overview of modern cloth nappies
  • Fitting a cloth nappy
  • How one-size-fits-most (OSFM) sizing works

Download your own digital copies for printing at home. These are designed in colour and will also print fantastically in black and white.

Downloads

You can download and print these at home or take them to a stationery store like Officeworks.

Hosting your own workshop

Members sometimes contact us for help with cloth nappy workshops. We have a range of tools to help people create their own wash routines. We suggest you use our cloth nappy routine builder to run through live during the workshop.

Most people want to hear ways to make using cloth nappies as easy and affordable as possible. Our suggestion is to discuss sustainability, financial affordability, and how creating a good wash routine makes everything easier.

Washing cloth nappies

We find many of our new members are used to washing on shorter, colder wash cycles, without enough detergent. We suggest your class addresses the following:

  • provide example wash routines for front and top loaders
  • talk about water hardness and how that affects how much detergent to use
  • suggest detergents that are easy to buy locally and work well

Setting up a cloth nappy stash

Remind your members there is no need to buy new nappies or boutique detergents. There is a fantastic secondhand cloth nappy market, people can get set up for under $100.

  • mention where to buy secondhand nappies
  • mention Random Act of Kindness (RAOK) giveaways within Clean Cloth Nappies
  • suggest using flats or terry towelling as a low-cost option
  • remind attendees they don’t have to use cloth 100% of the time
    • many people use disposables overnight, while travelling, or when they simply need a break.

A reminder about Clean Cloth Nappies’ paywall information

Please do not distribute any of our chlorine bleach sanitise amounts or other paywall information directly to attendees. Doing so is a breach of our terms of service

If you are planning a workshop, please do not add our logo to posters/ flyers without our permission. If you want to do so, please send a draft to us first.
