The subscription experience on the Clean Cloth Nappies website will be changing on 21 February 2023, when it will switch to be managed via Patreon. This update is for the website only and does not affect how this Facebook Group is run.

We’ve outgrown our current website membership platform. Our strengths are cloth nappies, laundry science and sustainability. We want to spend time answering member questions, being with our families and pursuing things that fulfil us, instead of fixing payment issues and administering accounts. Patreon will help us to keep CCN sustainable and allow us to do more of the things we love.

Our website (cleanclothnappies.com) is still your authoritative source for all our information, and the vast majority is free to access. Our premium, subscriber-only content is staying the same, but the experience of signing up and managing your subscription is improving.

What to expect

This change will take effect on Tuesday, 21 February 2023. All new website subscriptions will be managed via Patreon.

If you don’t have a current website account you will need to join our Patreon to view our subscriber-only content. If you don’t have a Patreon account, creating one is simple. You can choose to connect your Facebook or Google account or register for one with an email address.

Payment will be a smoother experience with more options, such as Apple Pay. Patreon also allows us to offer multiple currencies, so you can pay in your local currency.

Simplified access tiers

Options for our premium content will be simplified. All tiers will now give you access to

  • The full chlorine bleach calculator,
  • All Detergent Indexes,
  • The Washing Machine Index and
  • The 90/95°C heat sanitise method.

Billing cycles will all become monthly; no more quarterly or annual pricing. We hope this gives you more flexibility in supporting our work.

Choose what fits your budget

In that same spirit, we are also introducing ‘pledge what you can’ pricing. We will offer three membership levels that contain all the same perks, but at different pledge amounts. If you are feeling generous, can afford more in your budget and think our work is worth it, you can now choose to pledge a higher amount.

Existing website subscribers

You do not need a Patreon account to view most pages on the website. If you have a current website subscription you will be able to continue using it.

We are still working out how to transition people off our existing subscription platform. We will keep account renewals on for the immediate future.

What’s on the horizon

One of the most exciting things about moving to Patreon is that it gives us functionality to provide fun, exclusive perks. Expect things like:

  • Voting which detergent admins should test next
  • Early previews of new website features (hint: a big one is coming soon!)
  • Exclusive CCN merch
  • And more!

We want everyone to feel confident in the laundry

Our team is small and powerful. With your help, we can support our team of group moderators, scientists, researchers, designers, and web developers to continue to create amazing content and resources for you.

Troubleshooting and advice in our Facebook Group will always be free and we’ll keep answering posts on a daily basis. If you’ve benefited from our help in the past and would like to contribute to our future, we hope you’ll consider becoming a patron.
