Why we updated our sanitisation method and removed ‘stripping’
Strip washing is simply washing or soaking. It is a weak oxidation process, which removes some soiling, but does not sanitise. Chlorine bleach is able to remove minor stains, major stains, oxidise ammonia and sanitise against certain pathogens. You don’t need to strip wash because chlorine bleach is a far superior oxidiser.
The new and improved Clean Cloth Nappies Sanitisation method is here!
There is no need to ‘strip’ cloth nappies. We recommend sanitising in dilute bleach followed by a short wash to remove any remaining chlorine.
How to sanitise modern cloth nappies
Chlorine bleach and 90/95°C sanitise cycles both oxidise ammonia. The Clean Cloth Nappies sanitise methods provide directions and calculate chlorine bleach quantities.
